Philosophy of Education

The philosophy of education examines the aims, forms, and methods of obtaining

knowledge. As my teacher said when she was in elementary and middle school she was in a

gang and fought a lot, because of this she didn’t look forward to learning at all during the day.

Learning is different for every student; some people look forward to classes and some can’t wait

until the bell rings. For me, I enjoy going to school but some days it is hard to stay motivated

to go to classes I don’t enjoy. For example, my hardest class is physics and when I’m in class I

work hard and do all my work but I can’t wait for the class to end. However when I am in any

math class I am tentative and don’t want the class to end because I enjoy learning about it. When

high school hit for me I didn’t feel comfortable in some of my classes because of the people in

that class but then I looked at the big picture and realized that the students don’t matter but the

education does.

When I entered high school as a little freshman I had dreams of becoming an orthodontist

or an engineer. As I started to grow up I wasn’t interested in either of those but rather becoming

a teacher. I realized this when my AVID teacher and I became close and she showed me how

easy it was to make class fun. If I become a teacher I want to show kids that it is fun to learn and

I want to be able to show them that at an early age. Kids need to be taught that there are ways to make learning fun and they just need to realize that they can make learning fun themselves
